As of June 15, FBS coaching staffs are officially allowed to directly contact members of the class of 2028. Like most other programs, Georgia Southern wasted no time reconnecting with a number of priority targets.

Mosley (FL) defensive back Kingston Paul was among those to hear from the Eagles after communication restrictions were lifted. The talented defender received an offer from the Eagles at a camp hosted by Kennesaw State in early June and has remained in contract with the program’s coaching staff since.

“What stands out the most is the culture, coaching staff and the opportunity they provide on and off the field,” Paul said of the Eagles’ program. “Coach (Darius) Safford and I talked. He gives me great advice and feedback to help me improve my game.”

The Eagles are no strangers to recruiting the state of Florida under Clay Helton, hauling in 14 commitments from the Sunshine State during his tenure with the Eagles. Statesboro is just six hours up the road from Lynn Haven, meaning it is just close enough to home for Paul that it matters.

“Being close to home is a plus,” Paul said. “But finding the right overall fit is most important… Georgia Southern is definitely a school I could see myself going to.”

Paul has yet to make his way to Statesboro for a visit, however he is working with his family to find a date that works ‘soon.’
