As the college baseball season comes to a close, a number of Georgia Southern players are beginning to make decisions regarding their future within the sport.
This article aims to track transfer portal entries, additions, retirements and anything else that transpires in relation to the Eagles’ roster following a disappointing season.
Transfer Portal Additions
UTL Tate Sirmans - Ole Miss: Sirmans struggled to find his footing in Oxford, batting just .178 with two home runs across just 45 at-bats. The former top-250 recruit and Lowndes native will look to revive his career in Statesboro.
C TJ Schuyler - Indiana: Schuyler started more games behind the dish than any other catcher on the Indiana roster this season, but struggled mightily at the plate. In 80 at-bats across 38 appearances, he recorded just six hits while striking out 24 times.
LHP Zach Lyles - Western Kentucky: Lyles — another Georgia native — made the the decision to return the Peach State after spending three years in Bowling Green. In 75.1 innings of work with the Hilltoppers, Lyles posted a 4.78 ER with 77 strikeouts and just 35 walks.
Transfer Portal Departures

P Thomas Burke: The towering lefty spent two years in Statesboro, finishing his time as an Eagle with an ERA of 8.61, 49 strikeouts and 51 walks in 54.1 innings of work. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
OF Brady Christman: After taking home Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Honors, Christman immediately became one of the hottest commodities on the market this offseason. The talented freshman racked up 56 hits, 44 RBIs, 28 walks and 12 home runs in 46 games this season. He led the Sun Belt Conference in batting average (.384), slugging (.719), on base percentage (.480) and OPS (1.199). He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Destination: Mississippi State
P Carter DeGondea: Over the course of two years and 116 innings pitched, DeGondea struck out 100 batters and walked 55 while allowing 131 hits and 73 earned runs. The Kansas native boasted an ERA of 3.72 in 2025, by far the best of any Eagle pitcher with at least 10.0 innings pitched. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Destination: Missouri
C Bennett Edwards: After earning Sun Belt All-Freshman honors alongside Christman this season, Edwards immediately became a wanted man in the transfer portal and it wasn’t long before he announced his commitment to Clemson. The star catcher boasted a batting average of .287 and totaled 50 hits, 16 RBIs and three home runs in 49 appearances this season. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Destination: Clemson
OF Lukas Farris: Even after flashes of talent at Georgia, Farris never saw field in Statesboro. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
P Bradley Ferrell: The Kentucky transfer appeared in just one game for the Eagles, giving up two walks and two earned runs while failing to record an out. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
P Ethan Garrett: Despite appearing in 17 games and getting the start on the mound in seven of those contests, Garrett entered his name in the transfer portal after a rocky freshman season. In 35 innings of work, he struck out 34 batters while walking 30, but his ERA of 10.29 prevented him from breaking through as a true starter. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
SS Grant Jordan: After transferring to Georgia Southern from Pasco-Hernando State College, Jordan simply never lived up to expectations in Statesboro. Despite appearing in 44 games with 36 starts, the junior infielder totaled just 24 hits with 21 strikeouts and scraped out a batting average of just .200. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
P Jansen Kenty: The Peach State native was looking for a bounce back season after transferring to Georgia Southern from Alabama, but his struggles on the mound followed him to Statesboro. In just 18 innings of work, Kenty finished with an ERA of 8.50, struck out just 14 batters and walked 13 batters. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
3B Kade Kisz: Despite showing flashes of stardom on the defensive side of the ball, Kisz struggled to break into the Eagles’ lineup as a freshman. Offensively, he recorded just three walks, two hits and two RBIs while striking out 11 times. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Destination: Georgia State
INF Chance Sobbry: Sobbry — a freshman — did not appear in a game for the Eagles this season. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

P Holden Wade: In just 10 innings of work across nine appearances, Wade struck out just eight batters while walking seven and allowing 14 earned runs. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
INF Frank Wells: In his lone season with the Eagles, Wells accumulated more strikeouts than hits. He flashed a decent glove at times, but struggled to find consistent playing time in Statesboro.
Destination: West Florida
Retirements
P Will Holder: After a promising freshman campaign, the right-hander announced his retirement from the sport in a social media post. Holder struck out 39 batters, walked just 21 and gave up 44 earned runs in 55.2 innings of work. His 16 appearances were the most of any freshman pitcher on the Eagles’ roster in 2026.
