Following an impressive season that saw him haul in 20 receptions for 507 yards and nine touchdowns, Tucker (GA) wide receiver Jayden Joyner’s recruitment has taken off in the new year.

Georgia Southern became the sixth Division I program to extend Joyner an offer to close out the month of January. The Eagles joined Coastal Carolina, FIU, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Kent State and Liberty in their pursuit of the talented wideout.

“What intrigues me most about Georgia Southern is the overall culture and how the program develops it’s players,” Joyner said. “I like the environment and the opportunity to grow, both as a player and as a person.”

Following their offer, the Eagles have stayed in constant contact with Joyner. While inside receivers coach Damion Willis has been his main point of contact, he has begun to speak with a number of coaches as he begins to learn more about the program.

“The coaches have been talking to me about how I could fit into their system and how they see me developing over time,” Joyner said. “My relationship with them has been good. Communication has been consistent and they’ve been very supportive and honest with me.”

While nothing is set in stone, Joyner and his family are in the process of scheduling a visit to Statesboro sometime in the near future. Hailing from just three hours up the road, the Eagles are hoping to get him on campus a number of times throughout the process of his recruitment.

“(Georgia) Southern is definitely one of the schools I’m strongly considering right now,” Joyner said. “I’m continuing to learn more about the program and building relationships with the staff.”
