Since the transfer portal window opened on Jan. 2, Georgia Southern has added 17 student athletes by way of the portal. And while the Eagles have nearly completed their portal class, the program is continuing their pursuit of athletes at a pair of key positions.

GATA Central can independently confirm that the Eagles are still in contact with a number of tight ends and offensive lineman, despite already holding two commitments along the offensive line. Both positions have been a point of emphasis for the program this offseason, but it has proven to be a struggle to fill these needs.

FCS Freshman All-American Cole Norred and former Florida State offensive tackle Josh Raymond joined a Georgis Southern offensive line that lacks depth, but the Eagles remain extremely shallow in terms of experience along the offensive line.

The Eagles boast a mix of young talent and Division I experience at the tight end position, led by former Western Kentucky transfer River Helms. In his Georgia Southern debut last season, Helms hauled in just one reception for four yards before suffering a season-ending injury.

The program remains high on Helms and their young options at tight end, but would prefer to add at least one more experienced option to bolster their lineup in the case of any injuries.
