As of the time of publication, I have officially had access to the new College Football 25 video game for roughly 24 hours.

As a Georgia Southern fan, the first thing I did was load up a dynasty and start my journey to the College Football Playoff. And while I have yet to lead the Eagles to the promised land in our first two seasons, I can guarantee it will happen soon.

But that’s enough about my dynasty, let’s talk Georgia Southern (video game) football.

First off, Dexter Williams is one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the entire game. While his throwing stats leave a bit to be desired and his rushing ability may not be among the elite in the game, his physicality and freak athleticism make up for it. Within the first hour of my time on the game, I had hurdled too many Appalachian State and Georgia State defenders to count.

As expected, Jalen White and Derwin Burgess are the highest rated players on the Eagles’ offense and it shows in the gameplay. Both guys are a force to be reckoned with, especially against other group of five competition. However, LV Bunkley-Shelton and tight end Elija Walton are extremely fun to mess around with too.

Defensively, things look rough for our guys. Marques Watson-Trent is a great linebacker to user, but the rest of the defense is… not good. Same with the offensive line, which can’t pass block to save their lives.

Overall — just like real life — the Georgia Southern offense is an electric factory. Burgess and White are big plays waiting to happen every time they touch the ball. Bunkley-Shelton, Dalen Cobb and a plethora of running backs are effective to. But the defense continues to hold back the Eagles. Play zone and user Watson-Trent if you want any chance to make a stop.

And one last thing: Obviously none of this article is meant to slander any actual Eagle players as it is just a video game after all. Hail Southern.
