Three-star Fort White (FL) safety Jayden Jackson was among a long list of high school athletes who spent a weekend in Statesboro in late September.
Jackson arrived in Statesboro on Saturday to begin his official visit and received a tour of Georgia Southern’s facilities before making his way to Allen E. Paulson to witness the Eagles dominant victory over Maine. Before departing on Sunday, Jackson attended position meetings with the team and participated in a photo shoot.
“What stood out to me most was definitely the atmosphere of the game,” Jackson said. “They were just preaching to me how I can come in and be an instant spark on the defense.”
Despite being listed as a corner by most recruiting services, Jackson’s versatility has caught the attention of the Eagles’ staff. Alongside his ability to play both ways, Jackson is a track and field star as well as a 1,000-point scorer on the hardwood.
“They envision me as a long corner who can help in the run game and make big plays,” Jackson said. “(They) are definitely one of my top colleges.”
Despite the Indians being in the midst of another deep playoff run, Jackson is focused on his recruitment as well. After tabbing the Eagles as one of his top-two programs in late October, Jackson has tentatively set a commitment date of December 4. He will be deciding between Delaware and Georgia Southern.
