As the Georgia Southern baseball program looks to build on another successful run in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, the coaching staff has hit both the transfer portal and high school ranks hard this summer.
Former South Carolina left-handed pitcher Jevarra Martin Jr. was the latest athlete to announce his commitment to the Eagles in a Twitter post on Thursday afternoon.
Martin spent three years at Newton High School in Covington, where he played both football and baseball. However, the 6-foot-7 giant spent his senior season at Georgia Premier Academy. While in Statesboro, Martin contributed 25.1 innings of work whole striking out 32 batters and maintaining an earned run average of 3.87.
In his lone season as a Gamecock, Martin made just one appearance against Miami (OH). While he faced just two batters, Martin allowed a walk and was later credited with two earned run.
