For the first time in over a decade, there will be a former Georgia Southern golfer in possession of a PGA Tour card.
After a second-place finish at the Memorial Health Championship, Steven Fisk finally earned enough points to secure a PGA Tour card. He will be the first Eagle with status on the PGA Tour since Aron Price played 18 events during the 2011 season.
“It’s not something that I feel like I’ve been ready for in the past,” Fisk said in an interview with the PGA Tour. “I actually spoke to my wife and family towards the end of last season, saying if I were to have a great finish to 2023, maybe getting on the PGA TOUR is not something I was ready for. And now … I feel like it’s something that I’m ready to do.”
The 2024 season has been one to remember for the former All-American, with seven top-25s, four top-10s, a pair of runner-up finishes and his lone win as a professional coming since January. His success has resulted in just shy of $500,000 in earnings over the last six months.
Despite earning his card early, Fisk still has a lot to play for as he competes for the Korn Ferry Championship and a $270,000 top prize. His 1,436 points this season is good enough for first place and is 78 points clear of the second-best golfer on the Korn Ferry Tour this season. If he were to win the Korn Ferry Championship, Fisk would be granted a full exemption onto the PGA Tour as well as a spot in the 2025 PLAYERS Championship and U.S. Open.
