As the transfer portal window period rolls on, a number of former Georgia Southern stars will find their new college football home. While it is a bittersweet departure, we here at GATA Central wish them nothing but the best moving forward.
This article will track where each former Eagle transfers to as soon as it is officially announced.
CB Ayden Jackson - South Florida: Shortly after Cook announced his commitment to the Bulls, Jackson followed suit. During his breakout junior campaign, he totaled 74 tackles, three interceptions and three pass breakups this season.
WR Brian Green Jr. - Gardner-Webb: After transferring in from Florida, Green failed to record a reception while at Georgia Southern. As a result, he took a step down and landed at the FCS level with the Bulldogs.
OL Caleb Cook - South Florida: Cook was the first Eagle to announce his transfer destination when he officially signed with the Bulls. Cook was a First-Team All-Sun Belt performer along the Eagles’ offensive line this season.
WR Carmelo Mays - Valdosta State: After hauling in just one reception for five yards during his time as an Eagle, Mays found a home at one of the best programs at the Division II level.
OL Chandler Strong - North Texas: Strong was the third Eagle to announce his commitment on Tuesday, establishing his new home in Denton. He started 32 games and played more than 2,000 snaps at center for Georgia Southern.
DL Davion Rhodes - North Texas: Rhodes joins his former teammates Chandler Strong in Denton after being selected as an All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention in 2025.
DL Devan Lowe - Memphis: After serving mostly as a rotational piece along the Eagles’ defensive line. lowe announced his commitment to Memphis earlier this week. He accumulated 21 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack during his one season in Statesboro.
WR Dylan Gary - Kennesaw State: Gary came to Statesboro with high hopes after a big year at West Georgia, but hauled in just six receptions for 59 yards and one touchdown at Georgia Southern. He will hope to rebound with the Owls while remaining in the state of Georgia.
CB Elijah McDowell - Samford: After playing sparingly during his two seasons in Statesboro, McDowell made the decision to transfer down to the FCS level. He received interest from a handful of FBS programs, but decided to take a step down and stay close to home.
QB JC French - Cincinnati: French became the first Eagles to make the jump to the Power Four level during this transfer portal window when he announced his commitment to the Bearcats. In two years as Georgia Southern’s starting quarterback, he threw for 5,760 yards, 37 touchdowns and 19 interceptions while adding another 564 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
OL Johnnie Brown - Louisville: Brown was the last Eagles to announce his commitment on Tuesday, when it was confirmed he would be continuing his career with the Cardinals. The former Miami transfer earned Third Team All-Sun Belt honors this season.
WR KD Dorsey - Charleston Southern: Similarly to quarterback Tyler Budge, Dorsey made the transition to the FCS level after struggling to find playing time at Georgia Southern. He joins the Buccaneers with three years of eligibility remaining.
OL Robert Wright Jr. - Michigan State: After posting one of the highest pass protection grades in the Sun Belt this season, the jump to the Power Four level was to be expected. He started in 12 of the Eagles’ 13 games during the 2025 campaign.
QB Tyler Budge - Rhode Island: After failing to find much playing time in Statesboro, Budge is making the jump down to the FCS level. Although the Rams return their starting quarterback, Budge should be in line for a potential starting spot after the 2026 season.
This article will be updated as commitments continue to become official.
