Five things that caught my eye this weekend

After a chaotic weekend in the football world, Prep Ballers is back with a few things on our minds.

From an offense that nearly broke records to a team I'm not even sure knows how to play offense, here's what I saw this weekend. Enjoy.

The Miami Dolphins are good

For the first time in my 22 years of life, an NFL team had posted 70 points on the scoreboard. Two different running backs had FOUR touchdowns and Tua Tagovailoa completed almost 90% of his passes. Mike McDaniel is a madman and this team is the most fun team in football right now.

If you're the gambling type, you can find the Dolphins at +1000 to win Super Bowl 58. Just some food for thought...

Iowa's offense is bad

Four first downs, four turnovers. That's what the box score read following Penn State's 31-0 beatdown of the Hawkeyes. Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara had five completes while Nittany Lion signal caller Drew Allar found the endzone four times. The more you look at the stat sheet, the more painful it gets.

While I still think Iowa can eclipse 10 wins in 2023, this offense is painful to watch. Brian Ferentz has got to go, man. Just look at the numbers.

Washington might be the best team in college football

We are four games into the college football season and no one has looked better than the Washington Huskies. At nearly 600 yards per game, Kalen DeBoer's team has looked nearly unstoppable.

Michael Penix Jr. has established himself as a legitimate Heisman contender and the Huskies may have the best receiver room in all of college football. This team is going to be fun to watch and hard to beat. Watch out.

Five of the team's final eight games are against teams that currently sit inside the top-25, so we will know rather soon if the Huskies are a legitimate national title contender.

A new king in the ACC?

While Clemson looked like the better team for the vast majority of Saturday's massive matchup against Florida State, the Tigers fell in a devastating overtime game. Already sitting at 0-2 in conference play, it seems almost certain that Dabo Swinney's team will not be returning to the ACC Championship, much less defending their title.

On the other hand, the Seminoles now sit at No. 5 in the AP Poll and already have two big-time wins under their belt. They now sit in prime position to not only win their first ACC Championship in nearly 10 seasons, but also return to the College Football Playoff.

Mike Norvell has been building something in Tallahassee for a while now, but his vision is finally coming to fruition. Jordan Travis has evolved into one of the nation's best quarterbacks and the Seminoles have two true No. 1's at the receiver position. Oh, and they have a first-round pick on the defensive side of the ball too. This team is as good as anyone in America and they have more than proved it through the first month of the season.

Chaminade-Madonna is the best HS football team in the country

While looking at the Lions' roster, it's easy to get lost in the amount of FBS-level commits. Given that talent level, it should come as no surprise that the No. 1 team in Florida is 5-0.

However, that undefeated record has not come easy. Every single team that the Lions have faced so far is ranked among MaxPreps' top-100 high school football teams in the country. And Chaminade has dominated their opponents, winning by an average of 22.6 points per game.

I don't care what the rankings say, the best high school team in America is in Dade County, there's nothing else to say.
