Peach State lineman talks in-state offer

The moment an athlete receives their first is always special, but even more so when it comes from a program close to home. 2025 Discovery (GA) lineman Dennis Uzochukwu experienced this feeling firsthand in April when he received his first offer from Georgia State.

“(Dell McGee) is in communication with me every weekday and I talk to Coach Manrey (Saint-Armour) very frequently,” Uzochukwu said. “It means a lot that they believed in me first. That’s something that — no many how many offers I get — won’t change.”

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound lineman has lived near Atlanta his whole life, so an offer from the Panthers meant just a bit more than the rest. On top of the Panthers extending his first offer, the proximity makes the program that much more appealing for Uzochukwu.

“It means a lot that my first offer has finally come because I’ve been working my butt off day in and day out,” Uzochukwu said. “I put in so much work so I’m glad to see that it has paid off with a football scholarship. The fact that it is close to home is really cool. Atlanta is all I’ve known since I was a kid.”

But the Panthers are not the only program after the Uzochukwu, with Tulane extending an offer on Monday. Army, Eastern Michigan, Kennesaw State, Harvard and UAB are among the other programs in communication with the massive lineman.

Uzochukwu will take his first official visit to Georgia State this summer. Additionally, he will participate in camp at Clemson, Kennesaw State and Mercer.
