Football season is quickly approaching its end, which means GHSA State Championship games are right around the corner.
To kickoff the championship week festivities, the Class A Division I final showcases a rematch of last year's high scoring affair between the top-ranked Prince Avenue Christian School Wolverines (13-1) and the Swainsboro Tigers (12-2).
The Wolverines took down the Tigers 52-34 in this same game just a season ago, marking rhe program's second state championship in three years.
Recruiting wise, things are pretty quiet between the two programs. With the exception of a trio of big names, only one other athlete holds a Division I offer.
Below is a list of all players with college offers, along with a hyperlink to their recruiting profile if available.
Prince Avenue Christian School
2024 three-star quarterback Aaron Philo (Georgia Tech commit)
2024 defensive lineman Austin Head (Division II and Division III offer)
2025 four-star defensive tackle Christian Garrett (15 Division I offers)
2025 offensive tackle Jake Atha (one Division I offer)
Swainsboro
2024 four-star safety Demello Jones (Georgia commit)
2024 linebacker Jerrod Steward (one NJCAA offer)
Analysis and Pick
While both teams have been among the most dominant in the state this season, the Wolverines are the clear favorite in the first championship game of the week.
While the Tigers' run-heavy attack has worn down their opponents throughout the season, the Prince Avenue defense has proven to be one of the strongest in all of Class A. Alongside a high-powered offense led by yet another Division I quarterback, the Wolverines are one win away from cementing themselves as a true dynasty.
While I do think Swainsboro will attempt to shorten the game and keeps things close in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, I ultimately believe that the Wolverines are simply more talented and prevail in another high-scoring affair.
