After an impressive spring and summer, George County (MS) quarterback Deuce Knight's recruitment has rightfully exploded.
As recently as April, Knight was not ranked within the top-150 recruits in the class of 2025. But dominant performances on the 7-on-7 circuit have propelled him as high as the No. 1 quarterback in his class.
"It is a lot of expectations, but you can't think about what other people are thinking of or expecting out of you," Knight said of the No. 1 spot. "At the end of the day, you have to be proud about what you did or motivated and ready to work because of what you didn’t do. I just go out on the field and do me and pray to the Lord that he allows me to do my best."
The meteoric rise of the 6-foot-5, 195-pound signal caller has not gone unnoticed by college coaches, with 14 Division I programs extending an offer to Knight since the beginning of March.
"It’s crazy being in this position," Knight said. "It’s something that everybody playing football dreams of as a kid, so getting offers and getting ranked high is crazy."
However, despite a plethora of the nation's top programs vying for his services, two programs have begun to separate from the rest of the pack.
"I don’t think I have a true leader in my recruitment at this point, but Tennessee and Notre Dame are probably out in front," Knight said. "What sets them apart is how they are pursuing me. They recruit me harder than anybody. They let me know almost everyday that I am the No.1 1 priority. I think they just set me up best to get to the NFL."
Knight originally eyed a commitment before the end of summer, but is now taking a more day-by-day approach with no specific timeline in mind. A visit to Notre Dame on July 27 and another to Ole Miss on July 29 will close out Knight's busy summer schedule.
