After skyrocketing up the boards of scouts across the country, Alamo Heights’ (TX) Michael Terry III has cemented himself as arguably the top athlete in the class of 2025.
“I know there’s always people watching,” Terry said of his meteoric rise. “No matter what you do or where you’re at, you always know someone is looking for talent and you have to be there to display it at the right time and place.”
As a Texas native, Terry holds offers from nearly every in-state school including household names such as TCU, Texas and Texas A&M. However, staying home is not a top priority for the 6-foot-3, 210-pound athlete.
“Staying at home really isn’t important to me,” Terry said. “I don’t mind going away and adapting to a different environment.”
As a result, a number of out of state programs have risen to the top of Terry’s list, notably including the Nebraska Cornhuskers. A commitment from Terry would represent the third-highest ever for the Cornhuskers, according to 247Sports.
After his most recent visit to Lincoln, Terry took to social media to inform fans that head coach Matt Rhule “isn’t playing fair.” He highlighted Rhule’s leadership as one of the main reasons he remains high on the Cornhuskers.
Oregon has also made a move for the Lone Star State product, keeping in constant contact with Terry throughout the recruiting process.
“The Oregon coaches are great,” Terry said. “Coach (Dan) Lanning, Coach Will (Stein) and Coach (Antonio Parks) check in on me pretty regularly.”
While Terry will attend a number of showcases this summer, the five-star athlete has yet to officially schedule any college visits in the coming months. He and his family plan to take the process one day at a time rather than rushing into a decision.
