The Biggest Losers of Early Signing Day

While some programs came away with massive and potentially historic recruiting classes, a number of programs saw their recruiting class crumble as their rivals shot up the rankings.


This story will take a look at who Prep Ballers believes came away with the biggest recruiting victories on Wednesday.


Florida Gators

Three weeks ago, Billy Napier's program was ranked as high as No. 3 overall in terms of their 2024 recruiting class. After Wednesday, the Gators' recruiting class has fallen to the No. 16 overall class in 247Sports' team rankings.


In addition to numerous decommitments over the last month, the Gators saw four athletes flip their commitment to rival programs on Wednesday alone. Despite bringing in two five-stars, Florida landed just 18 total signees during Wednesday's chaos.


The results have certainly not been there on the field for the Gators, but a slow recruitment process puts Napier in a precarious spot entering the 2024 season.


Colorado Buffaloes

Yes, Deion Sanders landed 16 more transfers this offseason. And the program still holds a commitment from the nation's top offensive tackle, but Colorado received just five national letters of intent on Wednesday. In addition to two top-100 prospects, the Buffaloes landed another four-star and two three-star athletes.


The program now awaits a decision from five-star Jordan Seaton, who has been committed to the program for roughly two weeks. However, a late push from the Maryland Terrapins has put them in prime position to flip the top unsigned prospect in the country.


Losing Seaton's pledge would drop the program outside of the top-100 in terms of 2024 recruiting class rankings. And while the program once again holds the No. 1 class in regards to the transfer portal. We'll find out soon enough whether Coach Prime's transfer-heavy strategy is sustainable.


Florida State Seminoles

The Seminoles' class was once ranked as high as the top-five in 247Sports' recruiting class rankings, but the program finished Wednesday with the nation's No. 9 class in 2024.


Mike Norvell not only lost four-star defensive lineman Armando Blount to rival Miami, but also watched as five-star safety KJ Bolden to the Georgia Bulldogs. On an otherwise quiet day, losing two five-star level talents is a huge loss for an otherwise trending Flor
