While members of the class of 2026 are kicking off their sophomore seasons across the country, a handful of talented athletes have already shut down their recruitment.
Cass (GA) offensive tackle Bear McWhorter added his name to the short list of commitments in the class of 2026 after giving a verbal pledge to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
"I've been blessed to see a lot of great stuff and meet a lot of great people," McWhorter said. "But nothing felt quite like Arkansas. I felt like I had seen everything I needed to and I was ready, leading me to go ahead and commit."
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman chose the Razorbacks over nearly 20 other Division I programs, mostly due to his relationship with fourth-year head coach Sam Pittman.
"He is the offensive line guru and cares about me and my family," McWhorter said. "It's never just about me and football. It's about my parents, sisters and everything else. That's a really, really good relationship."
McWhorter is not the only big-time recruit at Cass, with a number of his teammates also holding Division I offers. Among them is his cousin, 2026 quarterback Brodie McWhorter, who already holds a handful of Power Five offers.
"My cousin is a '26 QB who I've gotten up to Arkansas once already," McWhorter said. "There's definitely a few more I'm going to get up to Fayetteville."
McWhorter's commitment marks just the 10th commitment in the class of 2026 and the second for Razorbacks' 2026 recruiting class.
