As the 2024 recruiting cycle nears its end, a number of programs have already begun shifting their focus to the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes.

2026 Pineview (UT) four-star Brock Harris is the top tight end in his class and already holds nearly two dozen Division I offers. Among the programs on his lengthy offer list are in-state programs such as BYU and Utah.

"They both offered pretty early and I was excited to get both of them," Harris said in regard to the Cougars. "My dad played baseball at BYU, so there’s that whole legacy thing. The coaches are great and seem to really care about me as a person."

Despite his connections in Provo, the Utes have already made a significant impression on the eventual five-star pass catcher.

"But Utah has had some really great success," Harris said. "I really like Coach Freddie (Whittingham). I’ve had some good conversations with Coach (Kyle) Whittingham also and he’s great. Both schools are high on my early list."

While the two aforementioned programs hold an added appeal due to their proximity to home, Harris has made not to allow that to blur his vision during the recruiting process.

"As for where I will play, distance isn’t the biggest factor," Harris said. "I haven’t really given that much thought. I just want to play where I will be used. My dad and I have a spread sheet that has the schools that offered me and some schools that I hope offer me. It has how many yards and catches the tight ends have made. Trying to figure out how to find out how many targets they have also. I would say that’s the most important thing at the moment."

The 6-foot-6, 225-pounder's unique approach to his recruiting process has landed him visits to some of the nation's top programs, including Alabama as recently as July.

"The Alabama visit was amazing," Harris said. "Everything was about work ethic and expectations of winning. Meeting Coach (Nick) Saban was great. He was very nice but very matter of fact. I liked him. Coach (Joe) Cox is a young coach and really energetic. I also liked him. There’s just something special there with all the history and the players that get to the NFL. It was really cool."

While his focus remains on his sophomore season, Harris has already lined up visits to Texas A&M and Oklahoma State. He and his family are still working to hammer down gameday visits to Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Washington.
