Palmetto State quarterback reflects on commitment

As the 2024 football season and recruiting cycle winds down, a vast majority of senior athletes are being forced to make a decision on where they will continue their career for the next four years.

Greeville (SC) quarterback Zachary Pickelsimer announced his commitment to Division II Livingstone College in a social media post this month.

"It was not a hard decision for me to pick Livingstone," Pickelsimer said. "When I went up there for camp they showed so much true love towards me."

Alongside Livingstone, the 6-foot-, 195-pound signal caller also held offers from fellow Division II school Erskine and NAIA-level St. Andrews.

Throughout his recruiting process, Pickelsimer received interest from a number of Division I schools in addition to the programs that extended him an offer. While none of those programs have pulled the trigger on an offer at the time of publishing, the young quarterback said he obtained valuable advice from every school that he communicated with.

"Most of the coaches that were in contact with me said they like my film," Pickelsimer said. "Most of them told me I was a dual-threat quarterback, able to pass and run the ball."

Other programs remain in contact with Pickelsimer, but he told Prep Ballers that he currently remains '100% committed' to Livingstone.

Finally, while he will graduate in December, Pickelsimer will not enroll at Livingstone until next fall.
